The cork is harvested according to a constant cycle, which promotes healthy growth of the cork oak. Every 9 years the extraordinary cork oak can be harvested by hand. It is the only tree from which the crack can be completely stripped without damaging the tree. The cork oak can become 150 to 200 years old.
